1) 6/14 – 6/18 ROYAL TEA

(Age 5 – 10) Teacher: Student ratio 1:8
This charm school workshop teaches students communication and behavioral skills in various social settings. Students learn the proper way to conduct oneself with respect and courtesy for others. Ballet and Jazz is also part of the curriculum.

2) 6/21–6/25 DANCE CONVENTION

(Age 5-13) Teacher: Student ratio 1:12
Our exciting dance convention style workshop offers a rotating Lyrical, Ballet, Jazz, and Hip Hop class, choreography and teachers every hour.

3) 6/28 – 7/2 MUSIC and DANCE

(Age 5 – 13) Teacher: Student ratio 1:12
Change lives through music and dance! Our interactive music workshop is directed by James Henry. Awaken creativity by playing percussion instruments, drums and other instruments. Students explore rhythm variations and learn about world cultures through music and dance.http://sambasamba.com/

4) 7/5 – 7/9 BROADWAY BOUND presents "WIZARD OF OZ"

(Age 5 – 13) Teacher: Student ratio 1:12
Students learn Musical Theatre plays and perform song and dance with crafts, and costumes.

5) 7/12 – 7/16 CHILDREN’S BALLET

(Age 6 – 10) Teacher: Student ratio 1:8
This workshop is a magical introduction to the world of classical ballet. The curriculum includes Ballet, Music, Flexibility, Strengthening, Choreography, Character Dance. Students learn confidence building skills for upcoming auditions.

• In -studio show on Fridays from 2:00 – 3:00pm
• Students will be divided into two to three age groups and levels per workshop
• Students wear dance attire
• 12 student minimum

• Teachers stay with the group during breaks

The teacher: student ratio is 1:10 depending on the students’ ages.
Students ages 3 to 6 must have an adult in the lobby through class.

Build listening, social and musical skills while trying gentle stretches, basic ballet steps and free dance to promote body awareness. Attire: Hair up, pink leotard, pink tights, pink ballet shoes.

Develop your child’s posture, rhythm and coordination. Simple ballet and tap vocabulary is introduced. Attire: Hair up, pink leotard, pink tights and ballet shoes, black tap shoes.

Tap dance is characterized by a tapping sound that is created from metal plates that are attached to both the ball and heel of the dancer's shoe which create a percussive sound when tapped against a hard surface. Attire: Hair up in any style or ponytail, DTI shirt/leotard, jazz pants/capris, tap shoes

CHARACTER

Character Dance is a stylized European traditional folk dance such as flamenco and mazurka. An example of character dance within ballet is the series of national dances which at the start of Act III of Swan Lake. Attire: Any color leotard, tights, and ballet black knee high skirt, black character shoes with 1.5 inch heel, Hair in a bun

JAZZ

Modern jazz dance is influenced by other dance styles such as ballet, contemporary, lyrical and hip hop. Jazz dancers benefit from a sound working knowledge of ballet technique. The curriculum includes ballet. Attire: Hair up in any style or ponytail, DTI shirt, or leotard, jazz pants, black shoes

HIP HOP

Hip-hop dance refers to a social or choreographed dance style primarily danced to hip hop music. This includes basic breaking, locking, and popping. It is often freestyle (improvisational) in nature. Attire: Shirt, pants, dance shoes/sneakers.

Classical ballet is best known for pointe work for advanced dancers, turn-out of the legs, high extensions, and its effortless qualities. It is a graceful and invaluable foundation for all dance forms building the necessary technique which promotes freedom of movement, artistic expression and strength. HULA

Hula is a dance accompanied by chant or song developed in the Hawaiian Islands. Students express the Hawaiian language through hand motions, body movement and music. Attire: Barefoot, DTI T-shirt, Hawaiian Skirt

BOLLYWOOD

Bollywood is a commercial name for modern Indian dancing. It's a combination of classical Indian dance, folk dance. Attire: Active wear, street shoes

DTI Summer 2010 Terms and Conditions

All fees are non – refundable, may not be pro – rated or transferred unless workshops or classes are cancelled. Declined or expired cards are charged and extra $5 per $100.

General Release

Dance Theatre International , a California incorporation, its agents, owners, officers, members, volunteers, participants, employees, contractors, and all other persons or entities acting in any capacity on its behalf shall be referred to herein as Dance Theatre International.

I have adequate insurance to cover any damages I may cause or suffer while participating in dance or other Dance Theatre International related activities; I agree to bear the costs of such Damage myself.
