SUMMER 2011 PROGRAMS

DTI offers many vacation–friendly classes and weekly programs for ages three to adults. Family and friends are invited to our in–studio performances at the end of our various programs.

All classes may be made - up by taking the same or another dance style in the student's level during the summer session. Tuition is pro - rated upon registration.
One class per week for the entire summer from June 20 to August 20 (No class 7/2 - 7/4): $125 |
Girls & Boys ages 6 to 13 Students learn various dance styles and new steps every day. The morning curriculum from 8:30am to 12:30pm includes Ballet Technique, pre–pointe or pointe for the most advanced dancers. The afternoon curriculum from 12:30pm to 4:30pm includes solo and group choreography from the San Jose Youth Ballet “Nutcracker”, Acting, Contemporary, Choreography Composition, Jazz, Stretch and Strengthening. Students interested in San Jose Youth Ballet Repertory Company membership for season 2012 must attend the entire Young Ballet Dancers Week. Repertory Company choreography will be taught during the Young Ballet Dancers Week. |
Elementary School Girls ages 6 to 10 FUN DANCE is an enriching five–day program for elementary age girls. The program leads girls in self-development using movement to express and inspire physical, emotional and social interaction with new–found friends. Students stretch, explore hip hop, jazz, contemporary, theatre, and music daily. Students express themselves and share their own voices. FUN DANCE participants develop a healthy self-image, leadership skills and confidence. Parents are invited to attend the Friday show and party held from 3:45 - 4:30pm. Students interested in participating in the Friday show should be enrolled in full days. Our daily schedule may change depending on our students' needs.
8:30 - 10:00 Warm - up/Stretch/Dance Attire: Any style or color leotard; black cotton/polyester stretch active pants/shorts/tights; hair up away from the face and neck. Students will need jazz or ballet shoes and will also dance bare foot or in socks. What to Bring: Dance shoes, snacks, lunch, and water. Lunch is held at the Village Square Park just outside the DTI facilities. Apply and bring sunscreen. Student's families are welcome to join us. |
WEEKLY ADVANCED BALLET INTENSIVE WITH POINTE AND PAS DE DEUX
Ages 10 to 21 Advanced students will have a rare opportunity to learn a piece from internationally sought–after choreographer, William Forsythe. Excerpts from his ballet, "Second Detail" Curriculum varies for intermediate and advanced levels: Pas de deux, solo and featured roles from the San Jose Youth Ballet Nutcracker, Pointe, Contemporary, Stretch, and Strengthening More Intensive Faculty will be announced. Important Intensive Dates: Audition results will be emailed seven days after the audition date. |
General Summer 2011 Policies and Guide:
New DTI students with no dance experience register into beginning levels.
New DTI students with dance experience schedule a level placement class.
Current DTI students must have a teacher’s approval prior to registration into a higher level class.

Extended Care: $7/hour – available 7:30am-8:30am and 4:30-6:30pm
Tuition credit issued if cancellation notice is given before April 30, 2011. No refunds.

Students attending the all day programs bring snacks, lunch, and water.
