Rachel Barnett

Rachel Barnett is a Bay Area native who grew up dancing in the south bay competition circuit. She received a full scholarship to Hawaii Pacific University for dance and won the National Dance Alliance Collegiate Championship in 2004 with the Hawaii Pacific University Dance Team. She is the first to receive a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from San Jose State University and was named Outstanding Senior in 2009 for excellence in performance, choreography and academics. Under the direction of Gary Masters, she was a member of San Jose State’s University Dance Theater for 2008 and 2009. As a member of the San Francisco based “Loose Change” urban contemporary company, she performed at the 2009 San Francisco Hip-Hop Dancefest. Her trio “Scrapbooked” was chosen to be adjudicated at the American College Dance Festival at Arizona State University in 2010. Her work, “Skinned Knees and Elbows”, premiered at the West Wave Dance Festival in 2010 at the Cowell Theater in San Francisco. She is currently performing with KT Davis Dance and the Nhan Ho Project.
