Jazz

With its roots in African dance and utilizing ballet technique, jazz can take many forms, including lyrical, classical, street and musical theater. Our classes emphasize clean technique while fostering style and raising the dancer's performance level. Warm-up is designed to strengthen the body and increase flexibility, and across-the-floor work helps to connect movement and build technical progressions. Routines challenge the dancer to dance from the inside out and push their artistic boundaries.

Jazz dancing is a form of dance that showcases a dancer's individual style and originality. Every jazz dancer interprets and executes moves and steps in their own way. Jazz dancing is energetic and fun, consisting of unique moves, fancy footwork, big leaps and quick turns. To excel in jazz, dancers need a strong background in ballet, as it encourages grace and balance.

Our Jazz classes are for ages 5 and up include stretching, warm - ups, combinations, terminology, positions, posture, and strengthening to various music. The range of movement includes commercial Jazz as well as Broadway Jazz.
